Two Lives, One Choice: Recovery Is Possible is Michael Anthoney's powerful true story of addiction, childhood trauma, incarceration, broken trust, and the difficult journey toward recovery.
Through honesty, accountability, faith, and the love of family, Michael shares how he confronted his past, rebuilt his life, and discovered that lasting change begins with the willingness to make a different choice.
More than a memoir, this is a message of hope for individuals struggling with addiction, families affected by it, and anyone who believes their past has placed their future beyond repair.
No matter how far you've traveled down the wrong road, recovery is possible.
Book One of The Twelve Pillars of Character, WAKE UP presents 31 powerful truths about honesty, healing, personal responsibility, and lasting change.
Through meaningful reflections, recovery principles, and thought-provoking questions, readers are encouraged to confront denial, discover the freedom of honesty, and begin building a stronger foundation for their lives.
Stop hiding. Start healing. Walk in the light.
Book Two of The Twelve Pillars of Character, OPEN UP – The Pillar of Willingness continues the journey begun in WAKE UP – The Pillar of Honesty.
WAKE UP challenges readers to recognize the truth.
OPEN UP asks the next important question: Now that I see the truth, am I willing to do something about it?
Through personal experiences, meaningful reflections, and practical recovery principles, Michael Anthoney explores what it means to become willing to listen, learn, ask for help, release control, and take the next responsible step toward lasting change.
Willingness does not require perfect confidence or having all the answers. Sometimes, meaningful change begins with simply being open enough to consider another way.
See the truth. Become willing. Begin to live differently.
I founded One Choice Press on a belief that has been shaped by my own life and years of working with individuals struggling with addiction: our past does not have to determine our future.
My purpose in establishing One Choice Press is to share meaningful stories and lessons that offer hope, encourage personal growth, and demonstrate the importance of honesty, willingness, accountability, faith, and character.
Through my memoir, Two Lives, One Choice: Recovery Is Possible, and The Twelve Pillars of Character series, I share what I've learned through my own experiences with addiction, recovery, family, and rebuilding my life, as well as the lessons I've gained from helping others find a different direction.
I believe lasting change is not about becoming perfect. It is about becoming willing to look honestly at ourselves, accept responsibility for our choices, and continue moving forward, one decision at a time.
One choice can change your direction.
I appreciate the opportunity to connect with readers, families, and individuals who share an interest in recovery, personal growth, and building a better life.
Whether you've read my memoir, are exploring The Twelve Pillars of Character, or are simply looking for encouragement along your own journey, I invite you to stay connected as I continue sharing my writing and the work of One Choice Press.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I hope something you discover here reminds you that change is possible and that every new day offers another opportunity to make a different choice.
“Knowing the road, doesn't give you the power to keep someone else from walking it. But it does allow you to stand at the end of it, ready to help if they decide they want a different life.”
“Recovery gave me a second chance at life. Character taught me what to do with it.”

Fifteen-Minute Chip began with an idea from my son, Matthew. He shared his vision with me, and I recognized how something so simple could make a meaningful difference in someone's life.
Through my own years in recovery and my experience working with individuals struggling with addiction, I've learned that sometimes the most important decision we can make is what we choose to do in the next few minutes. When life becomes overwhelming, looking too far ahead can make even the smallest challenges seem impossible. Sometimes, we simply need to focus on getting through the next fifteen minutes.
Matthew's idea became the foundation for Fifteen-Minute Chip, a recovery-support app we are developing to help individuals pause, refocus, and make a positive choice in the present moment.
The app includes guided 15-minute resets, encouraging messages, a private journal, and digital chips that recognize each completed reset. These chips are not a measure of sobriety. They are reminders that taking fifteen minutes to pause, reflect, and choose a different direction is something worth recognizing.
Matthew and I share the hope that Fifteen-Minute Chip will become a meaningful source of encouragement for people facing addiction, emotional struggles, or difficult moments in their lives. We want individuals to understand that they do not have to solve everything at once. Sometimes, the next fifteen minutes are enough to begin moving in a better direction.
One choice can change your direction.
Fifteen-Minute Chip is currently in development and testing and is not yet available for public download.
